“Mario Kart Wii - Custom Tracks” are a series of playable levels created for
the videogame Mario Kart Wii. I started creating these circuits when I discovered an online
community of creators who, passionate about the video
game, wanted to use their ideas to extend its playability. The strength of the community is
demonstrated by the media popularity of the game long after its
release. In 2021, more than 12 years after its publication, Mario Kart Wii still boasts dozens of
creators and a pool of spectators that exceeds 1,000,000 on Youtube.

Castle in the Sky is a track set in the world of the
omonimous Studio Ghibli movie. The track follows the events of the film, taking the player through its most
iconic environments.
The biggest challenge was working within the game's strict hardware limitations, while attempting to create very large environments: Mario Kart
Wii does not support levels exceeding 30,000 triangles and has significant restrictions on texture size and
quantity.
Nevertheless, the track successfully reached an audience of over 40,000 people on YouTube and was widely appreciated.
Snowpoint Valley is a simple track set in a snowy environment, featuring a few surprising
turns and slopes. The track is inspired by various Mario Kart levels, such as Sherbet Land and Mount Wario.
Dragon Burying Grounds is a track set in a volcanic landscape, designed to appeal to the
more hardcore Mario Kart Wii fanbase. It features a series of challenging turns and, most importantly,
well-placed shortcuts that are difficult to execute but highly rewarding.
Volcano Canyon is a track set in an active volcanic region. The main goal of this track
was to serve as a visual overhaul of an older track I created when I first started making Mario Kart Wii
levels.
